M4W Premium Account Notes

MAGNET4WATER Premium accounts enjoy unrestricted use of the M4W Platforms, i.e., limitations applied to free accounts no longer apply - see M4W Product Features matrices.

Additionally, work done on MAGNET4WATER Premium accounts is completely encrypted, and account access is protected with 2-Factor Authentication. (See details in M4W End-User License Agreement [EULA]).

Premium Account Encryption

All model files, model inputs (including user-uploaded data), and model outputs are encrypted via an encryption key.

Encryption Keys

There are three options for managing the encrpytion keys:

1 - Create on M4W

(Default) Hydrosimulatics INC. provides an encryption key and manages (dynamically creates) it for the IGW-NET user. Users do not have to enter the encryption key during login or at any other point.

2 - User-managed

Users provide an encryption key each time they login to the M4W Platform. It is the user's responsibility to store their key in a secure location.

NOTE: If the encryption key is lost, no one (not even Hydrosimulatics INC.!) can help recover encrypted files on the MAGNET4WATER server. Also, you may change your encryption key, but prior work encrypted with the previous key will not be usable (see more below in "Preserving Prior Work").

3 - Outside authentication

A company or institution can set up their own server service to provide an encryption key(s) to trusted users through their own user/password verification system (different from MAGNET4WATER login credentials).

NOTE for key service providers: you may change the encryption key you provide to trusted users, but prior work encrypted with the previous key will not be usable. Users should be instructed to preserve prior work before encryption keys are changed (see below).

Preserving Prior Work

There are two instances when users want to save their work to a local machine and later upload back to the M4W Platform to continue working without disruption:
i - when upgrading from a Free account (no encryption) to a Premium account (full encryption)
ii - when changing encryption keys (method 2 or 3 above) or encryption key management (e.g., from Method 1 to 2).

2-Factor Authentication

Required for Premium users at each login to a M4W Platform.

Verification codes are sent to the registered email associated with your MAGNET4WATER user account. It is critical to provide an appropriate email which you can access in a timely manner (i.e., before the 2FA code expires).

You can also set up a 2FA app for a smartphone (e.g., 2FAS Auth, Google Authenticator, or Microsoft Authenticator) using a provided QR code, but you must first verify the QR code through the registered associated with your MAGNET4WATER user account. (Again, it is critical to provide an appropriate email during your account setup.)
