A. ZoneRect

This button creates a rectangular-shaped zone within the model domain.

B. ZonePoly

This button allows users to create zones of any shape.

C. Zone from a txt File

This option enables uploading a .txt file with the coordinates of polygons (zone features) to be added to model. Note that this imports ONLY the feature geometries (no conceptual attributes are assigned during import, but can be assigned by editing individual zones after import).

NOTE: Importing very large datasets (many zones and/or many vertices) into the Maps Display and Working Area may significantly slow down the modeling page response time. Use the Hide/Show Zones button (see below) to avoid this issue once the data have been imported.

The following describes the file format (line-by-line text inputs). Each step represents the expected input (left) and an example of text input.

    Enter 'PCS:', then copy and paste the contents of the prj. file associated with the feature;
    then enter 'ORG:' followed by the x- and y-coordinates of the (lower-leftmost vertex), seperated with ',';
    then enter 'Names:' followed by the name/ID of each zone feature. Seperate each feature with '|'.

    Enter 'Lat-Lon' for coordinates entered in latitude-longitude format, or enter 'Meters' or 'Feet' if the coordinates are measured distances relative to the projection system origin.

    Starting with line 5, all remaining lines represent a single vertex coordinate. The coordinates for a single feature are "grouped together" (one row after another) until moving on to the next feature.

D. Zone from a shapefile

This option allows importing geospatial vector data stored as a shapefile as zone feautures in a IGW-NET model - both feature geometries and (if desired) conceptual attributes (e.g., all zone features assigned as a two-way head dependent head boundary condition).

NOTE: Importing very large datasets (many zones and/or many vertices) into the Maps Display and Working Area may significantly slow down the modeling page response time. Use the Hide/Show Zones button (see below) to avoid this issue once the data have been imported.

E. Zone from DataNET

This button initiates the process to transfer a polygon (WFS) feature(s) from M4W DataNET into the IGW-NET environment as a zone feature(s).

If a linked DataNET page is not already opened, clicking this button the first time will open a new DataNET page inside the browser. Login using your MAGNET account, select the layer of interest from the Data TreeView, draw a selection box overlapping the specific polygon feature(s) of interest, and use Data Transfer to send the polygon into IGW-NET (Data Manipulation > Transfer > select WFS Service > Send).

If the selection box overlaps two or more polygon features, all of the features will be transferred into IGW-NET and available for import (the user decides which ones to include during import).

F. Watershed from DataCenter

This tool allows the user to import a watershed boundary from the MAGNET Data Center as a zone feature. Different levels (sizes) of watersheds are available in the United States and globally.

G. SWAT Delineated subbasins

This tool allows the user to import as zones delineated subbasins from the latest M4W SwaNET model on your MAGNET4WATER account.

H. Zone=DM

This option creates a zone by copying the domain shape/geometry ONLY - domain attributes are not inherited. This is useful when adding a layer to the model that is the same (2D) extent as the domain polygon (of the 1st layer).

I. Paste

Select this option to paste the last copied zone (polygon) feature to the current model layer. Access a zone's attribute window with the ZoneAttr option to copy a zone feature.

J. Hide/show Zones

This option temporarily removes all zone features from the Maps Display and Working Area to 'declutter' the work environment. (NOTE: the conceptual zone features are still present/active in the model if this option is used.)

K. ZoneAttr (Zone Attributes)

This button is used to edit the attributes of any existing zone feature.
