Screen Capture
What is it?
This tool allows the user to perform a georeferenced screen capture of a defined area within the Map Display. The resulting image is sent to one of the MAGNET4WATER modeling platforms (IGW-NET, SwaNET, etc.). Note, the user must be in plan view (toggle off Globe View) to use this tool.
How to use it
Capture just the Base Map
First, define an analysis area in the map display by drawing a rectangle or polygon (Title Toolbar > Draw Analysis Area > 'Rectangle' or 'Polygon').
Then open the the 'Send Screen Capture' dialog (Title Toolbar > Transfer Modeling Data > Send Analysis Area Georef. Screen Capture) and choose 'Basemap Only'. Next select an image Format (see below), and click the 'Capture' button. If DataNET is not already linked to another modeling page, a prompt will appear asking to open a "child" model platform page, i.e., a MAGNET4WATER modeling page that is launched from and linked to DataNET. Select 'OK' and choose which model page to send the screen capture to: IGW-NET (IGW groundwater modeling), SwaNET (SWAT watershed modeling), or ZipMODFLOW (MODFLOW groundwater modeling; in development).
Once the child model page is successfully loaded in your browser, click 'Capture' once more to send the data. A prompt will appear in the child modeling page to receive the data, then the screen capture will be overlaid on to the modeling page map display. Note, if the basemap is changed, please close and reopen the 'Send Screen Capture' dialog to capture the new basemap.
Capture Data Layer(s)
This option allows capturing data layer(s) from the Data Layer Workspace or Library.
The process is similar to capturing just the base map (see above); first define an analysis area in the map display by drawing a rectangle or polygon.
Then open the 'Send Screen Capture' dialog, and check the radio button next to 'Basemap & layer(s)'. This will prompt you to select layer(s) from the Data Layer Library or Workspace (if checked already, uncheck and recheck layer(s) before clicking 'Capture').
Again, a prompt may appear asking to open a "child" model platform page (see above). If it does, select 'OK' and choose where to send the screen capture. Then, once the child model page is successfully loaded, click 'Capture' once more to send the data.
After clicking 'Capture', a prompt will appear in the child modeling page to receive the data, then the screen capture will be overlaid on the modeling page map display.
Image Format
The user can utilize a jpeg or png image format. Jpeg format results in a smaller file size (faster data transfer) but may result in compromised image quality. (On the other hand, png formatted images retain the original image quality but are larger in file size or slower to transfer).
