Screen Capture

What is it?

This tools allows the user to perform a screen capture of a defined screen area within the Map Display. The resulting image is sent to one of the MAGNET modeling platforms (MAGNET-Groundwater, MAGNET-SWAT, etc.).

How to use it

Capture just the Base Map

First, define an area of interest in the map display by drawing a bounding box (Title Toolbar > Draw Tool > 'Irregular' or 'Regular).

Then choose your image Format (see below), make sure the box next to 'Layer Capture' is left unchecked, and click the ScreenShot button. A prompt will appear asking to open a "child" model page, i.e., a MAGNET modeling page that is derived or opened directly from DataNET. Select 'OK' and choose which model page to send the screen capture to: mgnswat(MAGNET-SWAT), mgnGW(MAGNET-Groundwater), mgnMF (MAGNET ZipMODFLOW). (Note that this prompt will not appear if a child model page has already been open.)

Once the child model page is successfully loaded, click Screen Capture once more to send the data. A prompt will appear in the child modeling page to receive the data, then the screen capture will be overlaid on to the modeling page map display.

Capture a Data Layer

This option allows capturing a data layer from the Layer TreeView.

The process is similar to capturing just the base map; first define an area of interest in the map display by drawing a bounding box.

Then, check the box next to 'Layer Capture' in the Screen Capture interface. This will prompt you to unselect the layer from the Layer TreeView (if necessary) and re-select the layer before clicking Screenshot. At this point you may also be asked to Login to your MAGNET user account (Title Toolbar > Credentials > Login).

Again, a prompt will appear asking to open a "child" model page (see above). Select 'OK' and choose which model page to send the screen capture to. (Note that this prompt will not appear if a child model page has already been open.)

Once the child model page is successfully loaded, click Screen Capture once more to send the data. A prompt will appear in the child modeling page to receive the data, then the screen capture will be overlaid on to the modeling page map display.

Image Format

The user can utilize a jpg or png image format. Jpg format results in a smaller file size (faster data transfer) but may result in compromised image quality. (On the other hand, png formatted images retain the original image quality but are larger in file size or slower to transfer).
