Particle Tracking Help

Run the model forward to perform forward particle tracking, or run the model backward for reverse particle tracking.

  A. ParticleLine
  B. ParticleRect and ParticleZone
  C. Particle3DSurface
  D. ResetParticle and DeleteParticle

A. ParticleLine

Select ‘ParticleLine’ to place particles along a line segement (polyline). The cursor will become a cross-hair, allowing for placement of polyline vertices single-clicks. The Particle Line will appear as a series of bright yellow line segments with circles at the vertex locations.

Once the last vertex has been placed, LM click the ‘SaveShape’ button to finalize the polyline.

B. ParticleRect and ParticleZone

Select ‘ParticleRect’ (rectangle) or ‘ParticleZone’ (polygon) to place particles inside of a zone feature. The cursor will become a cross-hair, allowing for placement of rectangle/polygon vertices with single-clicks The zone will appear as a series of bright yellow line segments with circles at the vertex locations.

Once the last vertex has been placed, click the ‘SaveShape’ button to finalize the particle zone.

C. Particle3DSurface

This option allows users to interactively add a 3D particle release surface to the model.

D. ResetParticle and DeleteParticle

To delete all existing particles from the model, select ‘DeleteParticle’. To reset particles to their initial position (“reset the particle clock”), select ‘ResetParticle’.
