The Auto Generate Transects window is used to add irregular transects (cross sections) along a channel between existing drawn transects.
To Auto Generate Transects:
| Field | Description |
| Upstream Control Transect | Choose the most upstream existing transect to define the reach over which transects will be generated. |
| Downstream Control Transect | Choose the most downstream existing transect to define the reach over which transects will be generated. |
| Number of Transects between Controls | input the number of transects to add between exisitng adjacent drawn "control" transects. |
| Elevation Option | For generated transects, choose to "Interpolate X-Section" elevation from exisiting control transects, or apply elevations computed from land surface "DEM". |
| Burn or Interpolate (between banklines) | (only for "DEM" elevation option) For generated transects, choose to "Interpolate channel" elevation from exisiting control transects, or apply elevations "burned" into land surface between banklines. |
| Depth (ft or m) | (only for "DEM" elevation with "Burn" option) For generated transects, choose the depth of the "burn" (e.g. how much to subtract from the DEM elevation between banklines). Set this value consistent with DEM offset for channel nodes. |
| Overwrite Control Transects | check this box to overwrite exisiting control (drawn) transects with elevations computed by this tool (apply this option when burning channel elevations or to modify the number of transect points). |
| Orthogonal | Check this box to constrain generated transects to be orthogonal to channel and banklines. (left and right banklines must be drawn to utilize this option). |
| Number of points in x-sections | (only if orthogonal unchecked) Enter the number of points used to define each generated transect. |
| Points Left | (only if orthogonal checked) Enter the number of points used to define each generated transect left of the left bankline. |
| Points Center | (only if orthogonal checked) Enter the number of points used to define each generated transect between the left and right banklines. |
| Points Right | (only if orthogonal checked) Enter the number of points used to define each generated transect right of the right bankline. |
| Scheme Left | (only if orthogonal checked) Choose the scheme for generated transect spacing on the left floodplain: "Equal" spacing, spacing equivalent to that along the left "Bankline", or spacing "Projected" from where the transects cross the left bankline. Typically use projected on the outside of a curve, and equal or bankline on the inside of a curve. |
| Weighted Left | (only if orthogonal checked and scheme left is not equal) Check this box to gradually transition to equal spacing between transects on the left floodplain. Typically don't use weighting on the outside of a curve. |
| Scheme Right | (only if orthogonal checked) Choose the scheme for generated transect spacing on the right floodplain: "Equal" spacing, spacing equivalent to that along the right "Bankline", or spacing "Projected" from where the transects cross the right bankline. Typically use projected on the outside of a curve, and equal or bankline on the inside of a curve. |
| Weighted Right | (only if orthogonal checked and scheme right is not equal) Check this box to gradually transition to equal spacing between transects on the right floodplain. Typically don't use weighting on the outside of a curve. |
