Land use update
What is it?
SwaNET allows users to update land use in any HRU. This is particularly useful when the land use changes during the simulation. For example, a model is run from 1980 to 1990 and 50% of forest area in a subbasin is converted to agriculture in 1985, the change can be incorporated in the model through land use update. After the change is made, the updated land use remains in effect during the simulation period or until further updates are made. How to use it:
To update a particular land use, year, month and day of land use change is required.Click 'Add land use update', an enter year, month and day of land use change.
Under 'LU to Update' dropdown list, select land use that needs to be updated.
Click 'Add new land use' button. From the pop up interface, select a new land use. Click 'OK'. Original land use, new land use and percentage of original land use that is converted to new land use are entered in the table.
If the same land is converted to more than one land uses, click 'Add new land use' and select another land use. Once all the land uses are selected, enter the correct percentage of each updated land use. In the figure below, 50% of agricultural land is converted to forested wetland, 25% to forest and 25% to urban land.

Click 'Choose subbasins'. On the right side under 'Apply to selected subbasins', the subbasins that contains all the original and new land uses are listed. Select the subbasins to apply the changes, and click 'Save'. The entered values are saved, and the date and file names are displayed on the top right table.
Repeat the process until all the desired land use updates are completed.
To remove land use update, click 'Remove' next to the selected land use update on the top right table.
Close the interface. Don't forget to click 'Save Edits' butoon on the 'mgnSWAT Edit SWAT Data' interface.
