Simulation Options

What is it?

Simulation Options allows users to run SWAT simulation for the desired time period. Users can select either daily or monthly time step. Additionally, users can select to print other optional outputs.

How to use it:

Simulation options

Select the desired time period for SWAT simulation. By default, SWAT_64rel is selected, which is the released version of SWAT for 64-bit processors. The current version of SWAT used in SwaNET is SWAT 2018/Rev 670.

Print options

Users can select to print either daily or monthly outputs. By default, SWAT runs on daily time-step. For the monthly runs, daily values are aggregated to monthly values.
Year to skip printing (warmup period): SWAT simulates for the warmup period, but the outputs are not printed. Usually, 1-2 years is enough for warmup.

Select output variables

By default, all reach, subbasin, and HRU outputs are printed.

Additional print options

Click "Additional print options" to view additional output variables to print. By default, SWAT does not print these variables. Once these variable are printed, the output files will be available for user to download.

Running SWAT model

Once done with the simulation options, click "Run SWAT".

Initial outputs

It takes a while to run SWAT and create outputs, so be patient.
Once SWAT simulation is complete, four watershed level charts and one subbasin level map is created.

Watershed level maps
1. Actual monthly/daily evaporation
2. Monthly/daily water yield
3. Total monthly/daily percolation
4. Watershed water balance

Subbasin level map
1.Average monthly/daily water yield to reach
Subbasin level map is overlayed on to the Google map.

These results are only snapshots of what users can visualize on SwaNET. Users can create more maps by clicking "Result Visualiation" button on the main panel.
