Comparison with Field Observations

A wealth of physical groundwater data (Static Water Levels - or SWLs) collected across the State of Michigan was used to evaluate performance of models of different sizes, types, and in different hydrologic regimes, taking advantage of a modeling system live-linked to the comprehensive, pre-processed groundwater database.  Examples from 8 watersheds are shown below. Also included is I) a comparison of observed water levels and outputs from a coupled lake-groundwater model; and ii) comparisons of simulated flow patterns to Wellhead Protection Areas (WHPAs) delineated with traditional hydrological field investigations by the State of Michigan.
