Globe View WFS Layers

The WFS Layer Style Editor is used to replot/restyle Cesium features (loaded from WFS vector data layer(s)) within DataNET's Globe View. Users can change the appearance of points, lines and polygons to better illustrate datasets.

The basic steps for displaying/styling features in the Globe View framework include:
1) load & plot one or more WFS (vector) layer(s) from DataNET (see the Load & Plot Cesium Data help page).
2) explore the data layer(s) feature attributes (click on features to see properties and values)
3) open the WFS Layer Style Editor (in the Globe View Toolbar, select the layer in the dropdown next to '3D Vector (WFS) Display', and click 'Style')
4) (optional) make unique value data modifications and click 'Update Values'
5) (optional) choose attribute columns and apply filters
6) make style modifications and click 'Update Display'

Point Data

Point Data has three view options (Preprocessed Borehole Display, Sphere Display, and Cylinder Display).

A) The Preprocessed Borehole Display can be used to visualize lithology for dataset that have been preprocessed to have the following columns:
 a) 'WELLID' - a unique identifier for the borehole to which the lithology layer belongs
 b) 'ELEV' - the elevation of the top of the lithology layer
 c) 'THICKNESS' - the thickness of the lithology layer
 d) 'LITHMAT' - the material description for the lithology layer.

To utillize the borehole display:
1) expand the 'Display & Legend' section and toggle on the 'Preprocessed Borehole Display'
2) (optional) update lithology material classification (check and expand the 'Lithology Classes' section then (re)assign aquifer types) then click 'Update Borehole Display'
3) (optional) change display colors then click 'Update Borehole Display'

B) The Sphere Display and Cylinder Display can be used for general visualization of point data.
Options include:
 1) assigning constant color or colors based on feature property values.
 2) assigning constant diameter or diameters based on feature property values.
 3) assigning constant elevation (Z_value) or elevation based on feature property values.
 4) (for Cylinders) assigning constant length or length based on feature property values.
 5) filtering features based on based on feature property values assigned to color, diameter, elevation, or thickness.
After making changes click "Update Display" to redraw the point data with new style.

Polyline Data

Polylines have several basic styling options.

Height mode
 1) Constant height - expand the 'Display & Legend' section, make sure 'Const height' is checked, modify the 'Fix/Scale' value (extrusion height in meter), and click 'Update Height'.
 2) Height by attribute value - expand the 'Choose Attribute & Filter Numerical Values' section and choose a display variable, expand the 'Display & Legend' section, make sure 'Attr. height' is checked, modify the 'Fix/Scale' value (maximum extrusion height in meter), and click 'Update Height'.

Style
 1) Single color and line size - expand the 'Choose Attribute & Filter Numerical Values' section and make sure no variable is selected (i.e. select the blank option), expand the 'Display & Legend' section, modify the color (click the rectangle next to color and choose a new color), modify the line width (width in meter), and click 'Update Display'.
 2) Color (and optionally size) by attribute value - expand the 'Choose Attribute & Filter Numerical Values' section and choose a display variable, expand the 'Display & Legend' section, choose a color map 'cmap' and click 'Update Display'. To scale size with attribute, check the 'Scale' option, and click 'Update Display'.
 3) Pipe display, check the 'Pipe' checkbox and click 'Update Display', after a few moments the lines will be rendered as 3D pipes. The diameter of the pipes will be the 'Line Size' specified.

Polygon Data

Polygons have several basic styling options.

Style
 1) Single color - expand the 'Choose Attribute & Filter Numerical Values' section and make sure no variable is selected (i.e. select the blank option), expand the 'Display & Legend' section, modify the color (click the rectangle next to color and choose a new color), and click 'Update Display'.
 2) Color by attribute value - expand the 'Choose Attribute & Filter Numerical Values' section and choose a display variable, expand the 'Display & Legend' section, choose a color map 'cmap' and click 'Update Display'.
