HSA Video Tools
This tool allows easily creating videos from existing image files (e.g., model plan-view results saved during simulation) or during screen capture (for your entire screen or a defined screen area).Recording Type
The first step is to choose a recording type. There are three options:1) Full screen allows screen capturing of the entire screen/display
2) Defined Screen Area also allows screen capturing, but for a define area of the screen. Once this option is selected, the user can click the 'Screen Area' button to draw on the map the recording area, or the screen pixel coordinates can be entered in the boxes provided.
3) Images allows the user to load images from their local machine and create a movie, or they can load saved "TimeStep-images" from their user folder on the MAGNET4WATER server. TimeStep-images are snapshots of model results (plan-view display) for all (or some) time-steps of a previously executed simulation. (This creation of these images is enabled under: Conceptual Model Tools > DomainAttr > Simulation Settings > Modeling Transient Flow > Save TimeStep-images).
Note: The screen capture options are currently not supported by iOS.
Choose the Server option to load Timestep images from your MAGNET4WATER user folder. A prompt will appear that will allow you to input the delay time between two consecutive images. Images are loaded in order that they were created (i.e., they follow the same sequence as the simulation - the first image loaded is for the initial simulation time-step, the second image loaded is for the second time-step, and so on). After successfully loading the images from the server, click the 'Create video from server' button to make your video. Note that this creates an MP4 format video file. You can also use the 'Start Recording' to make your video from Server images, but the resulting file will be in webM format.
Choose the Local option to load a series of images from the browser buffer memory, or from your local machine. Images to be fetched from the browser buffer memory are those that are created during simulation after a user selects the 'Local' option for Save Timesteps-image (Conceptual Model Tools > DomainAttr > Simulation Settings > Modeling Transient Flow).
Use the on-screen prompt to choose the buffer memory images ('OK') or to load from your local machine ('Cancel', then 'Add Image' button that appears after proceeding through the prompts). If you are loading images from your local machine to the image buffer array, make sure to do so in a sequential order.
Choose the Test option to load an animation. This option is available to test if your browser supports the HSA Video Maker tool. (An error message will appear when you try to do the recording if the tool is not supported).
After selecting an Image Source is selected, click 'Start Recording' to make your video. (The resulting file format is webM).
Recording interval
The recording interval for the Images option (i.e., the delay time between two consecutive images) is controlled during the image loading process (see above). For Full Screen and Defined Screen Area options, the recording interval is the time between automatic screenshots that will be used to build the video. The following options are available:
- NoInterval - "Continous" screen capture, or no delay between screenshots (note that this will result in the largest video file size of any of the options).
- Defined - input a non-zero recording interval (units: milliseconds)
- Timestep - This option is used when screen capturing while simulation is taking place. A screenshot will take place each time a new time step is completed, and the new results are displayed on the map display.
Input Audio
Check this box to record audio during the screen capture. (This option is not available for Images recording type).Title Frame
By default, a standard 3-second title frame is added to the front of your video. To remove the title frame, uncheck the box next to 'Add Title Frame'To add a customized title frame, leave checked the box next to 'Add Title frame', and check the box next to 'Customize Title Frame'. This will reveal options for providing a custom title and model reference. The username and creation date are automatically populated.
Remember to click the 'update' button to apply your changes.
