Map Overlaying Options
This interface is used to control the display settings of the subgrid (and parent grid) results for an unstructured grid model.
Some changes require clicking 'Update Results' and waiting a few moments for the display to change.
Subgrid List
This box contains a list of all subgrids that can be turned "on" or "off" (shown in the display, or hidden) by checking or unchecking the associated boxes, respectively. The first subgrid listed is the parent grid (i.e., the original grid for the entire model domain). Each subgrid can utilize a different display opacity, or use the 'Opacity' field and 'Apply to All Selected' button to do a batch update for all subgrids and the parent grid (see 'Overlay' section of the interface.
Note that the name assigned to each subgrid is shown in the last (far-right column) of the Subgrid List section.
Order of Subgrid Overlays
The most recently checked subgrid layer is always "on top" in terms of overlays. For example, consider two subgrids: lyr1 and lyr2, and lyr2 is inside of lyr1. To "see" lyr2 overlaid on top of lyr1, then should first click lyr1's box, then click lyr2's box. (Lyr2 is hidden if its box is checked before lyr1's box is checked.)Simply put, to put any subgrid results to the top of the overlay, simply uncheck and check its box again.
Display Options
Default Rendering
The default setting is to present the subgrid and parent grid results as head contours (solid black lines) and velocity vectors (black arrows).Note that the "main" display shows only the parent grid model, and should be hidden using the 'ShowOverlay'/'HideOverlay' button (Other Tools > HideOverlay).
Global Scale and Subgrid Scale Options
These options are used when a color ramp is applied to the head results of the subgrids.Checking 'Global Scale' means the subgrid results in all model layers utilize the global minimum and maximum head values from the entire 3D model to develop the color ramp and legend. If the option is unchecked, the minimum and maximum values of the current layer are used.
Checking 'Subgrid Scale' means each subgrid result will use its own set of minimum and maximum head values to develop its color ramp and legend. If the box is unchecked, all subgrids will use the same minimum/maximum values (either from the whole 3D model, or from the current layer depending on if 'Global Scale' is checked or unchecked - see above).
Main Drawing Options vs. Subgrid Display Options
If the 'Same as main drawing options' is checked, the subgrid rendering of model results (heads, velocities, and concentrations) will follow the settings applied in the "main" display under Display Settings of the Domain Attributes menu (Conceptual Model Tools > DomainAttr > Display Settings tab). For example, if the main display utilizes the 'Contour and Color Map' option, selecting 'Same as main drawing options' means all subgrid results will be shown as a color map with black contours.
If the 'Subgrid Display Options' is checked, the user can select a different set of display settings to apply to a subgrid than what is being utilized in the main display. A dropdown menu will appear allowing the user to choose a subgrid for editing. Users can customize the "Contour" component (head or concentrations) and the "Velocity Component" (velocity vectors)
Note that this option allows changes to one subgrid at a time. To apply the changes to all subgrids, simply change the settings of the main display ((Conceptual Model Tools > DomainAttr > Display Settings tab) and then select 'Same as main drawing options'.
