Probability Chart

Workflow context
For the workflow context, see 📘 T-PROGS (borehole-derived geology) · 📘 Stochastic Modeling
NOTE:

1) Monte Carlo Simulation point-based parameters/outputs begin to be displayed at the end of the 2nd realization.

2) When performing concentration transport, particle tracking and/or transient head analysis in MCS mode, IGW-NET automatically calculates and stores statistics for probabilistic analysis from the last time step only.

3) After making any changes to the display options (see more below), click 'Redraw' to update the graphical display and point-based statistics

Point-based Statistical Indicators

The point-based output statistics available in IGW-NET are:
- probability density/distribution function (PDF)
- cumulative density function (CDF)
- histogram
- mean
- standard deviation (a measure of spread about the mean)
- skewness (a measure of distortion or asymmetry)
- kurtosis (sharpness of the peak of PDF curve)
- median and mode
- average deviation (or average error)

Model Parameters

The parameters for which point-based statistics are calculated include:
- lnK, where K is hydraulic conductivity (K in m/d)
- hydraulic head (m)
- solute concentration (ppm)
- x-direction velocity, U
- y-direction velocity, V

Display options

Select Well - Use this drop-down menu to select the monitoring well from which to extract and display the probability statistics.

NOTE: Master vs. Master+Slave is applicable for parallel computing (coming soon).

Process - This option displays the model parameter output for different realizations in the graphical display. The options under 'Process Curve Choice' allow the user to customize the display to include the mean, standard deviations, and/or single realization values.

Variation w/ Realization - Use this option to plot how the mean, standard deviation or coefficient of variation, CV (ratio of standard deviation to the mean,) evolves with as more realizations are generated. After enough realizations, these values should stabilize. NOTE: 'Process' should be selected when implementing this feature.

Normal PDF - Check this option to add a theoretical normal curve to the PDF curve in the graphical display

Change Probability Resolution - When plotting a PDF curve, use this submenu to adjust the number of subdivisions ("bins") to use between maximum and minimum parameter values.
