Load landuse and soil map
What is it?
SWAT project needs landuse and soil maps to create HRUs. HRUs or hydrologic response units are the units within a subbasin that possess unique combination of landuse, soil and slope. Each HRU shows a homogeneous hydrological response under similar climatic condition. Users can either directly upload landuse and soil map from local computer or load them from the MAGNET4WATER server.How to use it:
Load landuse map from local computer
To upload landuse map from local computer, click 'Upload from local computer'. To use a landuse map already uploaded to the server, click "Use Uploaded File". A list of already uploaded files appear. Click on the desired file name.To upload a new landuse map, check the box next to 'Import' and click 'Import'. Browse to the desired landuse map. Click 'Upload'.

After uploading landuse map, users also need to upload landuse lookup table. To upload landuse lookup table from local computer, click 'Upload from local computer'. To use a landuse map already uploaded to the server, click "Use Uploaded File". A list of already uploaded files appear. Click on the desired file name. Click 'Upload'.
To upload a new landuse lookup table, check the box next to 'Import' and click 'Import'. Browse to the desired landuse lookup table. Click 'Upload'.
If the landuse map is either NLCD map of CDL map, check the respective checkbox. The lookup table is extracted from the MAGNET4WATER server.

To upload landuse map from the MAGNET4WATER server, click 'Upload from the server'. Currently, there are two types of landuse maps available at Magnet server: global landuse map at 400m and US NLCD landuse map at 30m. Select desired landuse map and click 'Upload'. Landuse map and landuse lookup tables are extracted from the server.After loading, landuse map is overlayed over the background map.
Load soil map from local computer
To upload soil map from local computer, click 'Upload from local computer'. To use a soil map already uploaded to the server, click "Use Uploaded File". A list of already uploaded files appear. Click on the desired file name.To upload a new soil map, check the box next to 'Import' and click 'Import'. Browse to the desired soil map. Click 'Upload'.

If it is SSURGO or STATSGO2 soil map, just check 'SSURGO/STATSGO2 soil' checkbox. The soil lookup table is extracted from the MAGNET4WATER server.

Select slope band
Users can also define slope bands for HRU creation. By default, there is single slope band (0,9999). To insert a new slope band, type % slope in the field, and click 'Insert'. To clear slope band, click 'Clear'.After selecting slope band, click 'Create HRUs'. A full potential HRU map is displayed.
