Manual Delineation

Getting Started

Manual Delineation

What is it?

Manual Delineation Tool allows users to interactively create SWAT projects. Similar to ArcSWAT/QSWAT, users can select watershed delineation criteria and watershed outlet. This tool works as a combination of ArcSWAT/QSWAT and SWAT Editor. Required inputs are:
 DEM
 Landuse map
 Soil map
If these maps are available, users can upload them and use them instantly. Otherwise, users can extract these maps from SwaNET server.

How to use it:

Watershed delineation

Watershed delineation creates subbasins and stream network. Watershed delineation process uses TauDEM, which is the same process used in ArcSWAT and QSWAT. Watershed delineation starts with a DEM. There are several options avalilable for selecting a DEM. After secting a DEM, users can select a cell size and create stream network. Users can then select desired outlet(s) and complete watershed delineation.

HRU creation

HRU, hydrologic response unit, are the land areas within a subbasin that possess unique landuse/management/soil attributes. HRU creation/selection process uses same algorithm as QSWAT. First a map of potential HRUs area created and then users can choose how to select them in the final SWAT project.
HRU creation process needs landuse and soil maps. If users have these maps, they can be uploaded and used. Otherwise, users can extract these maps from SwaNET server.

Writing SWAT input files

Writing SWAT input files is similar to SWAT Editor. During the process, users can choose to add point sources and reservoirs.
