Species Input

Workflow context
For the workflow context, see 📘 Contaminant Transport · 📘 Ch. 22 — Numerical dispersion pitfall (§22.5.3)

What is it?

This page contains species specific inputs (both chemical properties, as well as physical properties of the aquifer associated with that particular chemical).

How to use it:

When a species is first defined the user can specify the name for that chemical species. This name is locked when the species is saved, or when spatial feature data is defined.
The user also chooses if the species is mobile or not (in other words if the species can be carried by advection and/or diffusion). Even if species are not mobile they can still interact with other species through the various reaction modules.
In addition to setting the species name and mobility, set default parameters for 1) the liquid phase (mobile phase in a dual-domain simulation), 2) the solid phase (immobile phase in a dual domain simulation), and 3) spatial featurs.
When building a model, defaults for all parameters assigned to spatial features need to be set here. For example, if molecular diffusion is used in zone 3, then the checkbox for diffusion must be checked here.
Note that the parameters on this page may be different depending on the process and reaction models chosen before the model is build. For example a dual-domain model will have different requirements than a linear sorption model.
